Step 2: Document Verification

Before initiating the scrapping process, our team verifies all required documents to ensure the vehicle is legally eligible for scrapping.

If the vehicle is under loan or hypothecation, the hypothecation must first be removed through the concerned RTO before the scrapping application can proceed. VAHAN checks for active hypothecation before allowing the application.

Step 3: Eligibility Verification on VAHAN Portal

Our RVSF team verifies your vehicle through the VAHAN Portal.

The system automatically checks:

• Whether the vehicle has any active hypothecation

• Pending Government dues (if applicable)

• Blacklisted vehicle status

• NCRB theft/criminal records

• Registration details

• Owner details

Only after successful verification can the online scrapping application proceed.

Step 4: Online Scrapping Application

After successful verification, the scrapping request is submitted digitally through the VAHAN Portal.

The application contains:

• Vehicle Details

• Owner Details

• RVSF Details

• Digital Undertaking by Vehicle Owner

• Digital Undertaking by Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF)

This creates an official Government record of your scrapping request.

Step 5: Vehicle Pickup

Once the online application is accepted, our logistics team schedules vehicle pickup.

The vehicle is transported securely to our Government Authorized Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility.

Step 6: Physical Verification at RVSF

• RC Verification

• Digital Record Creation

The owner (or authorized representative) hands over the vehicle and original RC to the RVSF, and the RC is defaced (punched) as part of the process.

Step 7: Certificate of Deposit (CoD) Generation

Once the vehicle is officially accepted for scrapping, the Certificate of Deposit (CoD) is generated digitally through the VAHAN Portal.

The Certificate of Deposit is:

• Valid for 3 Years

• Transferable (subject to applicable rules)

 

The CoD serves as proof that the vehicle has been legally handed over to an authorized scrapping facility and may be used to claim eligible benefits when purchasing a new vehicle, as permitted under applicable policies.

This certificate confirms that the vehicle has been permanently dismantled and updates the National VAHAN database.

Step 11: Vehicle De-registration

Following completion of scrapping:

• Vehicle records are updated on VAHAN.

• The concerned Registering Authority updates its records to reflect the vehicle's scrapped status.

• The vehicle can no longer be legally used on public roads.

 

Step 12: Final De-Registration at the RTO

You upload the proof of physical destruction to the portal. The Vahan system forwards the data to the home RTO. The RTO verifies it and permanently updates the vehicle status to "Cancelled/Scrapped" in the national database. A final digital Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping (CVS) is issued, legally severing the owner’s liability over the vehicle forever.
